Stop the Clover Flat & UVDS dump/waste sites in Napa Valley

We Need Sustainable Solutions for Our Waste for future Generations

Two local waste sites, Upper Valley Disposal Service (UVDS) and Clover Flat Landfill are stockpiling local and out-of-county trash and waste atop our community’s watershed. This is prime agricultural land in a world-class wine-growing region. It is time to rethink outdated dumps which threaten our water supply with contamination, risk degradation of our community and the Napa County brand, and increase fire risk. There are other alternatives. Recently Upper Valley Disposal Service and Clover Flat Landfill worked towards finalizing the process of being purchased by Waste Connections however, the new company has shown no indications they are planning to close/decommission the landfill or UVDS/Whitehall Lane waste site.

One of the world’s most beautiful landscapes is being threatened by our two waste sites. Water contamination, PFAS (forever chemicals), increased fire risk, and climate concerns, are all coupled with the looming threat of the expansion of these dumps/waste sites in our water source and agricultural areas. We want to protect our community from further degradation and curb the industrial expansion of waste in this rare agricultural/residential setting.

The Napa Valley has evolved in remarkable ways. It is time to rethink how to manage our waste. The outdated and inappropriate Clover Flat and UVDS/Whitehall Lane (entrance through Pestoni Family Winery) locations are a threat to our water, health and safety, quality of life, and viewshed—and increase the danger of fire risks.  It’s time to recognize these negative impacts so we can work together as a community toward a hopeful future. Find out how you can help.
